Netflix has renewed Sweet Tooth: The Deer Boy for a third and final seasonfollows Gus on an exciting trip to cold Alaska.
A post by Netflix Tudum confirms that the epic conclusion of the post-apocalyptic series It will take place in eight episodes. (equivalent to the duration of the previous two seasons) and that filming of the new chapters in New Zealand has already been completed.
“In many ways It’s exactly the story I had in mind and in many ways it’s taking on a life of its own,” said creator, showrunner and executive producer Jim Mickle. But the beauty of long-form storytelling and Gus’ journey through 24 episodes is that the characters themselves say what they want to be.”
The next season will continue the events of the second season, which premiered on Netflix April 27, starring Gus, Jepperd, Wendy and Bear as they embark on an arctic adventure. However, Mickle has warned that the final leg of Gus’ journey will be darker than anything we’ve seen before.
“Season 3 is an arctic tale filled with exciting new adventures and we hope this will be a satisfying conclusion to this epic tale. Gus will see a side of the world and humanity that he didn’t see in the first or second seasonhe explains. “The third season is darker than the second. Gus grows with the series and begins to mature as the themes grow darker. He has a lot to deal with and he’s the ultimate intensity for those with a sweet tooth.”
Although there is no concrete release date yet, Season 3 of Sweet Tooth: The Deer Boy will be released on Netflix in 2024.
